Hähnel Pro Cube 3

I have used Hähnel Pro Cube since it came on the marked. The last few years, I’ve used the Hähnel Pro Cube 2. I always have one standing in my office, and one in my travel bag. When I got asked if I wanted to test the new Hähnel Pro Cube 3, I said yes. So the Hähnel Pro Cube 3 is sent to me by Focus Nordic in Norway. I am a Focus Nordic ambassador, and have been since 2014. But i’m not eiter paid to do this or been told what to say.

I also got a Hähnel Extreme battery. I’ve used them for a long time. In my opinion, they are the best third party batteries out there.

My experience with Hähnel Extreme battery is positive. I do not notice it charges slower than the original Sony battery. It doesn’t get drained faster either in my experience. So thumbs up for this battery. Especially since it is cheaper then the original battery from Sony (prices varies for every country).

When it comes to Hähnel Pro Cube, I tested the version 3 towards version 2 to see if there is a noticeable difference in use and charging time.

It might just been my mind, but for me it seems like the Hähnel Pro Cube 3 is charging just a little bit faster, but since I didn’t use exact science, don’t hold my words for it. The size of the charger is still the same. But the biggest change for me, is happening on the back of the charger. On version 3, Hähnel have switched from their prior charging port (12v) to a USB-C charging port.

Since all other gear I have and use, both at my office and on travel, is USB-C. So especially on travel, I don’t have to double check if I have the correct charger with me anymore. Because I always have a stack of USB-C cables in my bag. The only thing I also wish was changed, is the out connection. This is still USB-A. This is the only reason I won’t mark the Hähnel Pro Cube 3 as the best charger on the marked.

But will I recommend the Hähnel Pro Cube 3? Yes, 100%. If you already have the Hähnel Pro Cube 2, Im not so sure if you will notice so much difference in real world use. Both charges two batteries about in the same time. The reason for me to go from version 2 to version 3, is as mentioned earlier, the changed charging port. USB-C makes it better and easier for me. If you don’t have any Hähnel Pro Cube models from earlier, this charger is a no-brainer to get.
